How to Hold the Trumpet
The ideal way to hold a trumpet is to have your right hand pressing the keys, and the left hand holding more of the trumpet.
Step 1- Take you right hand and put your index finger on the first key, your middle finger on the second key, your ring finger on the third key, and your pinky finger on the small C shaped stand. Your thumb can go under the long narrow pipe that you inserted the mouth piece into.
Step 2- Take your left hand and put your thumb infront of the valves. You can adjust a circle loop by sliding it along the pipe at the other end of the valves. This is to fit the length at where you want your second, third, or fourth finger to be. Your put the desired finger through the loop, to have a better grip on the trumpet. The fingers infront of the finger that you choose to put in the circle can just rest infront of the chosen finger along a pipe and/or on a bit on the side of the valves. Your pinky can rest under the trumpet, or wherever it feels most comfortable.
Tip: Be sure to have your trumpet paralell to the floor. This alllows a nice loud, and clear volume to come out of the bell of the trumpet. You dont want the trumpet to be downward like a clarinet, or up to high. Otherwise, the sound will be going towards the ground or towards the ceiling, and you won't be able to get a loud and clear sound out of the bell.
